Question:
Can I sue a city or county for my injuries from a sidewalk or curb?
Answer:
What happens if you have a slip and fall or trip and fall in a municipality? Let’s say in a public area that’s owned by a city, that becomes a public entity claim. There are certain procedures based on my background training and experience that I’ve dealt with on numerous occasions. When you have a claim involving a public entity, you have to give notice of the claim within a certain timeframe to the public entity. Normally, that’s within six months. Let’s say if you fall in city hall, you have to give notice to the city. There are certain claims you have to file. There are certain forms you have to fill out when you fall. There’s a claim you need to file immediately. It’s precedent to getting the claim set up. You certainly need to get hold of a lawyer sooner rather than later. It’s very important because there are documents that need to be filed. I would strongly suggest that you contact my firm because we’re well versed in the process and the procedures.
