At 2:10 pm on the day of the collision, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department was called to report a serious collision between a pedestrian and a big rig. The incident took place on Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue in Stanton, California.
Lieutenant Gene Inouye said that the pedestrian was lying motionless on the side of the road by the time he reached the scene. Lieutenant Jeff Hallock said that the driver was driving east on Chapman Avenue and turned southwards onto Beach Boulevard when his big rig truck struck and killed the pedestrian.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and everyone who has been affected by this tragic collision.
Although the deceased pedestrian was not identified, there were preliminary reports that the victim was an elderly gentleman. Despite little hope of success, authorities did have the victim transferred to UCI medical center immediately, but the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival. Investigators said that they do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
The southbound lanes at Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue were sealed off for a short period of time to ensure that a proper investigation could be launched and evidence could be properly examined.
When a family member dies because of a car accident in which the other driver is negligent, the victim’s immediate family may be entitled to compensation. An experienced truck accident lawyer could examine the facts of this tragic collision and help to determine whether compensation is an option.
While some people may have enough money to survive after the loss of their loved ones, others are not as well off. Losing their loved one results in an inability to pay bills or a debilitating grief period that results in the loss of one’s job. California courts allow eligible victims’ families to receive compensation for medical expenses that arose shortly before the loved one’s death or the loved one’s potential for future earnings if someone was dependent upon them to stay financially afloat.
If you or your loved one have been injured as a result of someone else’s negligence in California, you may benefit substantially by contacting an attorney you trust. Failing to obtain compensation after a serious collision can result in paying huge expenses out of your own pocket.
